American sports analyst and former professional basketball player Jalen Anthony Rose was born on January 30, 1973.

Together with Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King, and Ray Jackson, he was a part of the University of Michigan Wolverines’ “Fab Five” during his collegiate years, which made it to the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship games in 1992 and 1993 as both freshmen and sophomores.

Jalen was admitted into the Michigan Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017 and the Detroit High School Hall of Fame in 2013.

Rose participated in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for six different teams as a small forward, most notably for the Indiana Pacers club that advanced to the 2000 NBA Finals and made three straight Eastern Conference final appearances alongside Reggie Miller. With a career average of 14.3 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game, he retired in 2007.

Rose works as an ESPN and ABC sports analyst. He now contributes as an analyst to NBA Countdown and Get Up! and, until the end of 2022, he and David Jacoby co-hosted the ESPN discussion show Jalen & Jacoby.

In addition, he is the creator of the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy, the author of Got to Give the People What They Want, a New York Times best-seller, and the producer of the ESPN documentary The Fab Five.
